Designing onboarding illustrations that bring value and warmth to first-time users
Valora is a mobile wallet built on the Celo blockchain. I worked with the product team to develop a new art style for the app’s onboarding experience. This was an opportunity to evolve the brand and show personality in the ways only design could.
What made this project great was having the freedom to explore a wide range of directions, and being intentional with the drawing style.

DESIGN FRAMEWORK
Characters, shapes, and background shapes are three components that make up each illustration. The visuals bring Valora’s story to life and set up a flexible visual framework.
Characters are relaxed, often walking, lounging, or interacting with others. Background shapes complete the composition, and can also be used to add context to locations or environments.
TAKEAWAY
From concept to final illustrations, this project felt very aligned with my own art style. The collaboration was energizing, and the final artwork met our goals for the art to feel calm and approachable.
